Why travel Switzerland by train
Swiss trains are punctual, panoramic and perfectly connected to lake steamers, buses and cable cars. A single pass covers most journeys, and luggage can be sent ahead to your next hotel.
Days 1 to 2: Zurich and Lucerne
Arrive in Zurich, take a stroll along Lake Zurich and ride to Lucerne. Cruise the lake, cross Chapel Bridge and take the cogwheel railway up Mount Pilatus.
Days 3 to 4: Interlaken and Jungfrau
Travel via the Brünig line to Interlaken and journey to Jungfraujoch, the Top of Europe. Spend a second day hiking Lauterbrunnen's waterfalls or paragliding.
Days 5 to 6: Zermatt
Take the scenic route to Zermatt, a car-free village below the Matterhorn. Ride the Gornergrat railway for panoramic glaciers.
Days 7 to 8: Glacier Express to St. Moritz
Board the Glacier Express in Zermatt for the iconic eight-hour journey to St. Moritz. Reserve Excellence Class for panoramic windows and multi-course lunches.
Return to Zurich by the Bernina or Albula line. This itinerary is demo content.
